Argosy III - Fred Stelling

Stop No. 44
Location: Newburgh, New York
Photographer: Fred Stelling
Date: August, 2010

About the Photographer:

Fred Stelling lives in Newburgh, NY with his lovely wife Nancy; their three exceptional children Myles, Heather and Lindsay; and the newest addition to the family, Levi the dog.  Fred has been an Argus fan since High School Photography class, when a classmate lent him his Dad's C-44 for an assignment when all of the Pentax K 1000 cameras had been checked out.  Fred owns various Pentax, Minolta, and Nikon 35MM cameras, as well as 2 C 44 Argus and a "brick".  Fred shoots digital for convenience, and film for love ...

The Photographs:

Beach Umbrellas on Nantucket Sound

We traveled to Cape Cod for a week of relaxation - the C-4 came with us. I was sitting under the umbrellas on Argust 10, and happened to look up.  The brilliant blue caught my eye, and I snapped a few shots off.  I love the way the water compliments the umbrellas and visa-versa.  I think this was on Fuji 200 film, shot at 1/300, f22.

My kids, our dog our backyard

I was thinking that I'd had the camera for a good while and it was time to pass it along.  I had a roll in the C-4 that I had to finish, and started shooting whatever was around the house.  The kids (Myles, 8, Heather, 6 and Lindsay, 6) wanted a picture of them with their new dog, Levi.  Here is the result.  Kodak Max 400 shot at 1/200, f2.8, I think.  We were under a big maple tree, so I had to open the aperture - you can see the depth of field that resulted.  My favorite picture this outing!
